What is on the shelves, and how to ask for it

The archivist's own note. What follows is the collection, series by series, and the conditions on which it is read.

  1. Find the shelf Every subject has a label on the edge of the shelf, and a call number on the row itself.
  2. Fill the slip Write the number of the box you want and hand the slip across the desk.
  3. Wait at the desk Boxes are fetched in order of the request, and nothing leaves the room.
